Whether you love length or a bit of volume, this list will have what you are looking for, right up to the number one, which in my opinion, is the be all and end all of mascaras.
I apologise in advance for any impulsive shopping fits, induced by this list.
10: Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
With a brush apparently inspired by hair rollers, and claiming to contain B vitamins to help condition lashes, this mascara comes with mixed views. Definite Pro’s include ease of removal and a thin coat formula, which is fully buildable without clumping, also comes in a travel size. Con’s are the chance of flaking and smudging, giving the look of good old panda eyes, this can be prevented by applying a “top coat” of any clear mascara.
Available at Sephora AU full size $42 Mini $20
9: Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara
Lightweight volumising mascara, the wand is dense and holds plenty of product to coat lashes fully in one go. Downside is that, although it claims to be non clumping, it in fact does clump, which is due to an over fill of product on the brush, wiping excess off before application can stop this, but that results in a total waste of product.
Available at Mecca AU $33
8: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
40 years and Maybellines great lash mascara is still an award winning favourite. Smooth and non clumping and terrific on price, this one is definitely a staple for the beginner make up enthusiast.
Available at Priceline AU $12.95
7: Benefit They’re Real
Gorgeous length is what you can expect when using Benefit’s They’re real mascara. Thin and non clumping formula and brush design allows you to reach finer lashes and lower lash line. Long wearing and very easy to wash off.
Available at Myer Au Full size $42 Mini $20
6: Rimmel Wonder’full Wake Me Up Mascara
The light scent of cucumber in this wonderful mascara, really does wake you up, beautifully volumising and slightly lengthening, this one offer a very natural look and is great to wear daily.
Available at Priceline AU $18.95
5: Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express
Another great affordable mascara providing the goods for makeup addicts on a budget. Just as it claims, Maybelline’s colossal volum’ express mascara, gives you just that, colossal volume. Don’t over apply this one though, because it can become clumpy.
Available at Priceline AU $19.95
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes 4 in 1 Mascara
A definite crowd favourite, Tartes lights, camera, lashes has a formula with near on perfect consistency, incredibly volumising and lengthening. It will take a little longer than others to dry so be careful of smudging.
Available at Sephora AU $29
3: L’Oréal Mega Volume Miss Baby Roll Mascara
To be honest I am completely in love with this, the packaging is super adorable, and the brush grips and curls your lashes while applying it, there is no need to curl your lashes anymore before applying this fantastic mascara. Pro tip for maximum curl, partly close eye and apply from the top of the lash line, roll wand backwards and up like you would a round brush while blow drying hair.
Available at Priceline AU $21.95
[At the time of writing this however,
this particular mascara is sold out
due to Pricelines 3 for 2 deal on L’Oréal Paris Cosmetics.]
2: Urban Decay Perversion
Perversion is a seriously fantastic mascara, enriched with amino acids, this mascara conditions and stimulates lash growth. Ample amount of length, although not overly volumising, the formula applies well and lasts for around 10 hours without flaking. Does come in a travel size for convenience.
Available at Mecca AU Full size $36 Mini $16
1: Too Faced Better Than Sex
Cult favourite for a reason, Too Faced Better than sex mascara, is the mascara to rule all mascaras. With both lengthening and volumising qualities, this little beauty will give you the look of false lashes without awful clumping, flaking or smudging.
Available at Mecca AU Full size $33 Mini $17
